I have always had big trucks; I guess it compensates for my height. My first car was a truck back in high school and I loved to cruise in it around high school. Despite the high cost of fuel and insurance. I know there are some safety issues with driving SUVs, but I don’t think that is going to stop me from buying SUVs. Ford along with NHTSA had worked together to improve SUVs. Their research has made and continues to make SUVs safer for striking and the struck vehicles. It’s nice to know that they are making safer SUVs for the consumers and the public. In either case, I think that in a head collision, I would still rather be in a SUV than in a car. It all boils down to the driver’s responsibility to be safe behind the wheel, but you can’t always prevent accidents from happening. Now I see kids fixing their cars with all these gadgets to make their cars faster and racing in public streets, posing a bigger threat to the public than a SUV. What about semi trucks even though they serve a different purpose they still pose a threat on the road. Like I said, you can’t prevent all accidents from happing, but you can educate better drivers; it’s all about who’s driving these trucks that should be a concern. My truck has been used for what it was intended for and it has served its purpose. I have been taking it for road trips, carried loads I couldn’t carry in a car. I know there are people out there with a bad taste in their mouth, but we all have the right to buy what we want. Whether you consider SUVs to be a danger to the public, it should be the consumer choice.
I prefer to be driving an SUV too. It gives me this feeling of security when I go out there on the freeways especially when I have to transport small children. I agree that keeping the road safe for all motorists should be the responsibility of the drivers regardless of what vehicle we drive... SUV, trucks, vans, sedans or small cars.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on educating drivers...no matter what size the vehicle is, without proper education you can seriouslly inflict harm onto someone.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I have a problem with truck drives or SUV drivers is when they zoom past me at 90 to 100 mph. There is no reason to drive something that big that fast.
